And The LeorAward Goes To...

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

In a year threatened by a pandemic, and oh before I forget the increase in price of onions, it’s safe to say that this year more than some has been tough!

We believe that some people stayed inspiring us in their various fields, to keep pushing on, and that’s why we have the LeorAwards 2020.

Presenting our rocks and motivators!!

Ugochi Nwangwu

Even though some parts of Nigeria are sadly unsafe to travel to and need a vast amount of social awareness, Ugochi doesn’t waver in her quest to tell the stories of the affected. She still finds the time to work with her sister Chidinma Nwangwu popularly known as DJ Chimmy on her event agency called We Just Came To. This award goes to a queen and a humanitarian, Ugochi Nwangwu.

Andrew Madaki

Awesome Ann

Ann is a radio personality on Rythm FM Abuja, and all-round awesome person! Awesome Ann proves to us over and over that a Mum can do it all! With her sweet voice she serenades the frequency with a touch of brilliance, poise, passion and sometimes a few dance moves, lol.

David Teryima Uhamber

This award goes to David!! David creates graphic designs, but has proven to the world that he is so much more. He also rebranded his designing capabilities by taking up inspiration with photomanipulation, which involves the use of multiple images being merged into one amazing artwork. David is a man of hidden talents, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Sharon Browne-Peters

Sharon is a resilient young lady who set up an NGO called COAG initiative, aimed to help people with sickle cell disorder, and project ever so needed awareness. Her NGO welcomes collaborations, and even worked with Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF) to provide aid, and engaging comic books on the sickle cell disorder. We look forward to more needed health awareness.

Osas Omoruyi (Hornet)

This award goes to the The hornet aka The Design Priest (p.s we have to ask him why he calls himself that) but we’re guessing it’s because he has all the sauceee lol. Hornet is a talented young old man who believes in leveling up and pushing the boundaries of creativity. He knows how to portray visual content in an appealing and exciting way. One might say he is the gatekeeper of the Abuja entertainment industry, not only creating designs, but creating videos, events, and has played a vital role in influencing the culture.

Imani Madaki

This award goes to Imani. In 2019, she received the well sought-after Chevening scholarship to study an MA in International Development, she currently works with women with disabilities in the UK, is proudly a feminist and is a member of the Global Shapers Bristol. Imani as an international student during a pandemic, kept her head up and persevered, encouraging many who thought that they couldn’t go for another degree to do so. She also mentors women interested in pursuing a scholarship as well as being a humanitarian. To a hard-working woman, cheers!

Tobi Ifabiyi

Tobi is an economist, forex trader, finance guru, event curator and source of motivation many. Tobi stays pushing and has even set up his own consultancy Fabs Capital teaching people how to save and investment money even during a pandemic. Tobi strives for his peers to stay creating amazing things while being financially smart. What a guy!

Onohie Edionwele

Onohinosen aka Onohie is fascinated by aesthetics and might be described as a restaurant connoisseur. She takes herself on tours across Abuja to different locations, whether it’s food, pottery, art, and more, and gives an honest review of the place. Onohie is your go-to for location scouting tour guide and events/birthdays. Every stop on her page is a must-stop!

Tiza Nege

Tiza started playing with computers at a young age, disassembling them and putting them back together… and is now a full stack developer/web developer. He has a unique perspective on how a web page should look, understands communication and is an overall fun guy! He created a website and app to connect young skilled professionals to jobs as part of a youth advocacy project called Skillers.ng. Looking forward to his next project!

Abuja Brands of 2020

Please note that this is not paid advertising, we really just like these brands and their efforts this year, 2020!

Cantina Sinclair is restaurant and boutique hotel which serves delicious food and has good customer service. As soon as the pandemic hit, cantina came up with the 24-hour swift delivery services, an app and good deals.

Ann’s Restaurant

There’s a warmth when we think of Ann’s; the food, ambience, service are all top notch! Ann's quickly adapted to the needs of its customers and continues with great hospitality.

Swish

During the lockdown, dispatch services were and still are in high demand. Although they are a delivery service, they have managed to scale up, create engaging content and manage good service-client relationships.

The Colony

The Colony is a restaurant in the heart of Wuse Abuja, famous for their spin rice amongst other wonderful fusions. The Colony pushed their boundaries beyond the kitchen, to even an online marketplace once the pandemic hit. Colony reinvented itself and stays up to date with the current needs of its customers.

We are honored to have put this together, as we celebrate worthy recipients while looking forward to the year 2021!
